Heather is a professional writer, certified tutor, editor, and proud mother of a son who is pursuing a career in forensic mental health counseling. Striving to be a champion for human rights and an advocate for those less fortunate, she co-founded and serves as president for
the nonprofit, Women & Girls Education International, which is committed to ending or preventing violence against women and girls, through education. She also serves on the board of the Native American Intertribal Caucus, where her emphasis is on communications and
addressing the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
In March 2026, she also will also be a certified Integrated Nutrition Health Coach. With more than thirty years in the writing field, she has managed a monthly newspaper, launched a newsletter, managed a team of journalists, written for a worldwide news service, Reuters, and
managed an alumni magazine. She has also volunteered for social services, tutored math and English to junior high school students in Washington, DC, taught English as a second language to a Taiwanese minister, and, since 2020, has delivered for Meals on Wheels.
